I was invited to be one of 12 speakers to give a TED-style talk at the TEDxUCSD 2017 event, run by UC San Diego’s branch of the TEDx program: “The TEDx Program is designed to help communities, organizations and individuals to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences. At TEDx events, a screening of TED Talks videos — or a combination of live presenters and TED Talks videos — sparks deep conversation and connections at the local level. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently, under a free license granted by TED.”

My talk was titled The Era of Online Learning, and it can be viewed below or via this link.

Bioinformatics Symposium 2017

I was invited by the Undergraduate Bioinformatics Club (UBIC) to give a talk on the field of Bioinformatics and how/why I myself transitioned into the field at their Bioinformatics Industry + Academia Symposium 2017 event. The goal was to provide information to prospective Bioinformatics undergraduates as well as to guide junior or senior Bioinformatics majors who were torn between academia and industry.

In addition to myself, the event’s speakers were Dr. Pavel Pevzner, Dr. Trey Ideker, Dr. Terry Gaasterland, Dr. Hannah Carter, Dr. Olivier Harismendy, Dr. David Henderson, and Dr. Raj Krishnan.
